POOL HOUSE
This extension-renovation project has two main areas. The first is an internal extension
on the first-floor level which appears as a big element cantilevering in the backyard.
The second is a generous decking that contains a recreational barbeque area and a
transparent pool house, visually connected with the pool and the existing garden. The
solution was designed in simple lines that allow efficiency in the use of the available
space and a neat aesthetic solution.
The brief contemplated an important amount of storage. We design this at a low height
creating a long bench that allows spatial and visual continuity. Towards the garden,
there is total transparency through large glass panels. Next to the boundary, there is a
garden that grows level with the bench. A low window permeates the light from the
exterior creating a feeling of continuity. From the ceiling natural light falls through the
floating wall.
The intermedium space at the end contains the barbeque area. The bench returns
creating a more spacious and higher structure that contains the appliances. All this is
covered with a semi-transparent ceiling made of natural timber.
Light and matter meet here giving the inhabitant the experience of being comfortably
connected with the garden and sky, not just for domestic use but also for parties or
gatherings.
